This worker had spent years at a retirement village and had seen it all, but one family took the cake (and probably Sam’s jewelry too). Sam was a kind resident whose family lived just fifteen minutes away, yet they barely visited. They never brought clothes, ignored her needs, and somehow managed to lose most of her valuables. Since they had power of attorney, the staff couldn’t intervene — until Christmas rolled around.
On a sweltering Australian Christmas day, the village hosted a lunch for residents whose families couldn’t make it. Naturally, Sam’s family didn’t book but showed up last minute, demanding seats. The staff had warned everyone to “bring a jumper” because the air conditioning would be blasting. Guess who didn’t?
The worker dressed Sam in a cozy outfit and sat her right under the main vent. When the family whined about the cold, the worker cheerfully agreed to “turn it down” and dropped the temperature four degrees. Within minutes, the neglectful family bailed, leaving Sam to enjoy a warm meal with people who actually cared.
Justice served. Ice cold.

"Making them cold just seemed like the right thing to do."
